Emergency Medicine Overview:
The Department of Emergency Medicine came in to existence during the academic year 2012-2013 to cater the needs of the rural public in and around Davangere region as a specialty course recognized by the Medical Council of India with an intake capacity of 3 post graduate seats. (MD)
It is nearly commendable to note that SSIMS&RC is the only college in the state of Karnataka to get 3 post graduates MD seats recognized by the MCI. The college established the Department to offer education and research in the Emergency Medicine. The Department works to ensure high quality care by setting &monitoring standard of care and provide expert guidance and advice.
The department treats the full spectrum of patients with our promise of medicine pledge for the innovative care; Emergency Medicine plays a key of role in the health care systems, Medical Education and Research.

The department is well planed and excellent infrastructural facilities are available with adequate equipment The Department organised a two days course on “ AIIMS ULTRASOUND TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT “ ON MAY 18TH &19th 2013 IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE ALLINDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCE NEW DELHI and about 40 participants from different states attended the course to enhance their skills in use of ultra sound in emergency and trauma The Department also organized 2nd Annul Regional Academic Emergency medicine summit representive states of Karnataka and AndraPradesh Which was held on may 18th 2013. The department would make use of all opportunities and avenues in future to strengthen the academic and research programs to provide maximum care to the patients
