During accident and Emergencies, if the patient/victim receives emergency care & life support, the chances of survival are excellent.
Dr Peter Taillac, Professor &HOD, Dept. of Emergency Medicine, University of Utah, wishes to train all the doctors about Emergency life care.
During emergencies, patients are initially treated at Primary Health Centre and then transferred to tertiary care centre for further management. Doctors at PHCs could encountersuch emergencies but may not be skilful or equipped with advance instruments to provide complete care. Hence, Dr Peter encourages training all the doctors to learn and be able to provide emergency life support.
In developed countries with availability of advanced infrastructure and simulated emergency rooms with mannequins, doctors are trained and well versed to manage any emergencies. Due to lack of these facilities in India doctors struggle to manage emergencies like road traffic accidents, electric shocks, fire accidents, poisoning, snake bites. Hence, ECLS/Jeevaraksha workshop has been organised by Dr Peter Taillac and team to train the doctors to manage commonly encountered emergency situations.
RGUHS in association with University of Utah has been conducting ECLS / JeevaRaksha workshop in various medical colleges.
SSIMS&RC, Dept of Emergency Medicine has organised this workshop at present with the support of Dr Vijay Bhaskar Reddy.
Dr S SMallikarjun, Chairman of SSIMS & RC has provided the complete support and has encouraged the hospital staff to conduct the workshop successfully.
Dr B S Prasad, the principal, Mr Satyanarayan, the medical administrator, Dr Kalappanavar, the medical director, Dr Narendra SS Professor & HOD, Dept of Emergency Medicine have been actively participating and running the programme successfully.
"Many lives are lost, and every life is precious. Purpose of this workshop is to train the doctors to successfully manage the emergency situations said Dr Peter Taillac.
