Department of Orthopaedics conducted CME/Workshop on 20th September 2008 under the leadership of Dr. Anil Nelivigi. The function was inaugurated by Dr. G. Nagaraj - Prof and HOD, Dept of Orthopaedics, JJMMC. This programme was exclusively on the Total Knee Replacement- the basics and advanced levels. We took the opportunity to felicitate Dr. Shyamsundar Shetty for his devoted service to Davangere Orthopaedics .
The programme began with the lectures by both our national faculty with lectures on ‘Introduction, indications and procedure etc., of the total knee replacement’. Two cases were operated in workshop. The first one was a straight forward case and second one was complicated knee. With the excellent audio visual coverage directly from the O.T. about 100 delegates took advantage of the coverage and interacted with the operating team to resolve their queries.

The theme of CME\Workshop was on Bone Transportation and Deformity correction. The national faculties were Dr. Prasad P.N.V.S.V from Kammam, (AP) and Dr. Govardhan from Chennai. Lectures were given by both the faculty members on principles, basic techniques of the procedure, indications and complications of the procedure and also on difficult case planning and management.

The teaching faculty Prof. Dr. Sripathi Rao, Dean, KMC, Manipal accompanied by Dr. Kiran Acharya and Dr. Vivek Pandey gave lectures on basic to advanced skills of Arthroscopy of Knee joint. Two cases were taken up for live demonstration to an audience of about 100 delegates from different parts of Karnataka State. The first case was a simple diagnostic arthroscopy and second one was an ACL reconstruction. With help of excellent audio-visual facility the audience were very much satisfied to clear their queries regarding arthroscopy, by the faculty members and the whole programme was a grand success.

Under the aegis of Karnataka Orthopaedic Association and Davangere, Orthopaedic Society a CME on Current Concepts of Interlocking Nailing was conducted at SSIMS&RC, Davangere. Which was a well attended programme by around 200 Orthopaedic surgeons and post graduates from 12 Medical colleges in the state.
The CME started on 23/09/2017 morning at 9:00 AM. Lectures on topics regarding Current concepts in Interlocking Nailing was covered. We have invited three prestigious guests, The first talk was given by Dr.Ajith kumar, president of K.O.A , Dr.Shivshankar senior consultant from solapur, Maharashtra, Who is well known as Nailsman of India, the inventor of solapur sleeve and many techniques of reduction of complex fractures, Dr.Gadegone was the third speaker from Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Who is a senior trauma surgeon, an inventor of many implants and researcher.
DOS President Dr.Ravinath.T.M, Vice President Dr.Anil.S.Nelivigi and secretary Dr.J.Manjunath and D.O.S team actively participated in conducting the function. The aim of the CME was to enlighten the post graduates and to update the trauma Orthopaedic surgeons regarding the new Nailing techniques and salvage options. This was a very useful CME as it dealt with the treatment of osteoporotic fractures and complex diaphyseal fractures by nailing, which is bread and butter of any orthopaedic surgeon.
The event was a grand success due to the active participation of nearly 200 delegates, and vast amounts of information exchanged between professors and post-graduates.

The CME was inaugurated by Dr Deepak Shivanna, President KOA, Dr Harish Murthy, Secretary KOA, our Principal Dr. B S Prasad, Dr Arun Kumar Ajjappa, Medical Director, SSIMS and RC, Dr.Manjunath J (Prof. & HOD), the Organising Chairman, President-DOS and Dr.Venkataramana Rao M, ( Professor) the Organising Secretary.
Scientific deliberations was delivered by renowned Pelvi-acetabular Surgeons, including Dr.Dinesh Kale, Prof,JNMC Belagavi, Dr Raju PK, Prof, BMCRI, Bangalore, Dr Shivaraj AC, Asst Prof, MRMC Kalaburgi and Dr Lokesh Veerappa, Consultant surgeon, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. The aim of the CME was to enlighten the post graduates and to update trauma Orthopaedic surgeons regarding current concepts in Pelvi acetabular trauma followed by hands on workshop on Bone Models. 2 KMC credit points has been issued for the delegates.
