WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK-2017:
- THE BREAST FEEDING WEEK 2017 WAS OBSERVED IN SSIMS&RC FROM 1ST AUGUST TO 7TH AUGUST 2017.
- IT WAS CONDUCTED BY DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS AND COMMUNITY MEDICINE BY ORGANISING VARIOUS ACTIVITIES.
- FIRST DAY WAS THE FORMAL INAGURATION Dr.GEETHALAKSHMI R PROFESSOR AND HOD OF DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE GAVE HEALTH TALK ABOUT BENEFITS OF BREAST FEEDING.
- Dr.LATHA G S PROFESSOR DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS DISCUSSED PROBLEM FACED BY NURSING STAFF ,. DR.VEERESH BABU ASSISTANT PROFESSOR GAVE A TALK ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR NURSING STAFF OF SSIMS &RC.
- 2ND DAY HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR PREGNANT AND LACTATING WOMEN WAS ORGANISED IN PHC LOKIKERE .
- 3RD DAY HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAME WAS CONDUCTED FOR NURSING STAFF FROM PRIVATE NURSING HOMES OF DAVANAGERE IN CHI (BAPUJI HOSPITAL).
- 4TH DAY, HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR PU COLLEGE GIRLS WAS ORGANISED IN PU LOKIKERE COLLEGE ON BENEFITS OF BREAST FEEDING. ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION WAS CONDUCTED ON BENEFITS OF BREAST FEEDING AND 3 PRIZES WERE GIVEN.
- 5TH DAY, HEALTH EDUCATION FOR NURSING COLLEGE STUDENTS SSINS WAS CONDUCTED. INTERDEPARTMENTAL JOURNAL DISCUSSION WAS DONE BY Dr.POOJA , PG (PAEDIA), Dr. SMITHA PG (PSM).
- 6TH DAY, AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR PREGNANT AND NURSING MOTHERS WAS DONE BY Dr.VIDYA IN UHC, BASHANAGAR. Dr.VINAY COORDINATED A ROLE PLAY ON THE SAME OCCASION.
- 7TH DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR ASHA WORKERS WAS DONE IN SSIMS & RC, DR.N K KALAPPANAVAR MEDICAL DIRECTOR, SSIMS&RC,GAVE THE WELCOME SPEECH ON THIS FUNCTION .CHIEF GUEST FOR THE FUNCTION WAS YASHODA VANTIGODE ADDITIONAL SP FOR DAVANAGERE INAGURATED THE FUNCTION AND DR.TRIPULAMBA DHO ,ADDRESSED THE GATHERING.WHERE DR. LATHA DISCUSSED THE ROLE OF ASHA WORKER IN EDUCATING MOTHERS FOR BREAST FEEDING AND MOTIVATING THEM.
- Dr.RATNAPRABHA,Dr.KUSUM MANE ,Dr.ASHWIN,Dr.RAKESH ALL OTHER FACULTY MEMBERS FROM COMMUNITY DEPARTMENT WERE INVOLVED ACTIVITELY AND MAKING THIS PROGRAMME A GRAND SUCCESS.
World Breast Feeding -2018 –“ Breastfeeding-A Foundation Of Life”:
- 1st to 7th August on the occasion of World Breast feeding week througout the week programme was arranged at various levels, jointly with the Department of OBG & Community Medicine.
- ‘26th World Breastfeeding inaugural function was held at Bapuji Child Health Institute auditorium August 1st 2018.
- On account of “World Breastfeeding Week”, awareness programs were arranged @ SSIMS&RC at LT4 on 2nd August 2018
- Participants: All the nursing staff from SSIMS&RC, PG’s, Interns & UG students participated.
- Speakers: Dr. Veeresh Babu D.V. Topics: Feeding in VLBW Babies.
- Mrs. Savitha: Good attachment & staff nurse postings. (Skill of Breastfeeding)
- Role play: Staff nurse, Moderator: Dr. Latha G.S.
- On 3rd August 2018 workshop on breastfeeding skill was arranged for postgraduates students of OBG, P&SM, & Paediatrics Department.
- Speakers: Dr. Vinay Kumar S : Topics: Revised BFHI.
- Dr. Latha G.S.: Topics: Enough & not enough milk.
- Group work & case discussion was conducted for all the postgraduates.
- All the staff members:Dr. Chaitra Angadi, Dr. Bhavya S.O, Dr. Veeresh Babu D.V, Dr. Vinay Kumar S Co-ordinated the program.
- Afternoon program for AVK College for women at Davangere was arranged.

- On 4th August 2018 guest lecture were arranged for all the nursing students of SSINS.
- Regarding awareness program on breastfeeding.

- Role of ASHA & Anganawadi worker in establishment of BF & Awareness program for student at KAS college.
- On 7th August 2018 Valedictory function at SSIMS&RC , Auditorium
- Role of ASHA & Community health workers during pregnancy periods for successful lactation.
“27th World Breast Feeding -2019“:
1st to 7th August on the occasion of World Breast feeding week througout the week programme was arranged at various levels, jointly with the Department of OBG & Community Medicine.
‘27th World Breastfeeding inaugural function was held at Bapuji Child Health Institute auditorium.
On occasion of awareness programs conducted @ Takuk Health Office at Lokikere PHC.
PHC Medical Officers, Asha workers, Anganavadi Workers, Group C/D Workers & other heathworkers, Mothers, attended the programme.
Awareness programs were arranged @ SSIMS&RC at LT-3.
All the nursing students attended the programme.
Interdepartmental discussion on breastfeedingwasarranged along with Dept of OBG, P&SM, &Paediatrics Department. All the PG’s attended the Programme.
Valedictory function at SSIMS&RC, Auditorium was conductedRole of ASHA & Community health workers during pregnancy period for successful lactation was discussedRole play was done by nursing staff.
