CME - Radiology

Radiology's CME:

A state level CME with interactive tutorials for Post graduates was conducted on Radiology Temporal bone, Nose and Paranasal sinuses by department of Otorhinolaryngology on 21st January 2012. 60 post graduate delegates and 25 faculty members from various medical colleges across state had participated in the CME. Dr. Prakash MD from Bangalore Medical College delivered a lecture on Anatomy of the Paranasal sinuses. Dr. Rahul Modi, from Lokamanya Tilak Medical College and General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai, Delivered a lecture on Radiology of Nose and Paranasal sinuses. Indications of CT Paranasal sinuses, How to read a CT scan CT anatomy of the nose and Paranasal sinuses were highlighted in the lecture session. Dr. Kishan Ashok Bhagawat addressed about the radiologists perspective.

These lecture sessions were followed by Interactive tutorials which were moderated by Guest faculty. Post graduates were divided into 12 groups and C T films were given to each group. Group Discussions were moderated by Guest faculty In the interactive sessions groups were asked to prepare a report and read in front of the audience. Guest faculty members encouraged them to read and corrected the mistakes and highlighted some of the important surgical landmarks to be identified by a surgeon before doing a functiona Endoscopic sinus surgery.

Similar lecture sessions on Temporal bone were conducted on temporal bone by Dr. Jyothi Swaroop from Siddartha Medical College, Tumkur, Dr. Kshitij Shah, from Lokamanya Tilak Medical College & General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai, and Dr. Kishan Bhagawath, Consultant Radiologist from SSIMS & RC.

“Teacher of Teachers” Dr. M Shankar Senior ENT surgeon of Davangere was falicitated by ENT fraternities of JJM Medical College and SSIMS & RC during the CME.

A state level CME with interactive tutorials for ENT and Radiology Post graduates was conducted on Neck Imaging by department of Otorhinolaryngology and Radiology on 20th April 2013. 75 post graduate delegates and 43 faculty members from various medical colleges across state had participated in the CME. Dr. Jitender Saini MD( Rad), DM( NIIR) , Assistant Professor from NIMHANS, Bangalore delivered a lecture on Basics of sectional imaging and Normal Sectional Anatomy from Skull base to Mediastinum. This lecture was followed by felicitation to Dr. Tippanna K senior ENT surgeon from Davangere. Dr. Akhil M Kulkarni MD( Rad ), PDCC from SSIMS & RC Davangere and Dr. Sharath Kumar GG MD( Rad), DM( NIIR) from Apollo speciality Clinic Bangalore hosted the anatomy interactive session for post graduates. Dr. Akhil M. Kulkarni delivered a lecture on High resolution Ultrasonography of Thyroid. Indications for thyroid ultrasonography, differences between benign and malignant lesions, characterization of malignancy by various parameters were highlighted Dr. Deepak K.S. MD( Rad), DNB( Rad ),PDCC from MHD, Shimoga addressed about approaches for the Neck lesion.

Dr. Sharath Kumar GG delivered a lecture on Endovascular intervention in Head and Neck pathologies. Indications for endovascular lesions, material used, risks involved were highlighted in the lecture.

Dr. Gunashree invocated blessings of god, Principal Dr. P Nagaraj, Dr. K Tippanna, , Guest Faculty Members Dr. Kalappanavar , Dr. Ramesh Desai and Dr. A. M Shivakumar inaugurated CME. Dr. Yogeesha BS delivered vote of thanks.

Dr. Parthasarathy HOD dept of Radiodiagnosis, chaired a session in CME “Chest Updates”, conducted by SDM Dharwad.

Dr Kishan Ashok Bhagawath prof, dept of Radiodiagnosis, participated as faculty in CME “Chest Updates” conducted by SDM Dharwad, presented a lecture on “Basics of HRCT”.

KARRADON - 2018

The 34th annual state conference of Indian radiological and imaging association (IRIA) Karnataka state chapter was organised by the Department of Radio-diagnosis of S.S.institute of medical sciences and JJMMC in association with IRIA Davangere sub-chapter and IRIA Karnataka state chapter on 2nd to 4th of March 2018.

The theme for this year was “Women’s imaging’ with emphasis on emerging trends in gynaecologic and obstetric radiology.

The conference was held fromMarch 2 nd to 4 th , 2018 at the SS Convention Centre in Davangere, Karnataka which featured a highly interactive, stimulating and multidisciplinary program including workshops, plenary sessions as well as abstract and poster sessions. Under the theme of “WOMEN’S IMAGING” the meeting addressed the entire patient pathway.

Under the supervision of Dr Kiran Kumar Hegde and Dr Akhil M Kulkarni. The conference was a great success which attracted various health professionals and radiologists and was a vital forum for the exchange of information in this rapid advancing field.

It was a complete package of academic feast.

Department of Radio-Diagnosis, Neurology, Paediatrics, Medicine and Emergency medicine hosted a CME in “ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE” on 14th of july’19 in SSIMS & RC auditorium.

The Inaguration was preceded by Chief guest Dr Indushekhar Chief of interventional Radiology at HCG hospital Bengaluru.
